Tom, i don't do any editing myself but i know that pinnacle studio 12 is pretty powerful and it doesn't cost as much as professional programs like Adobe premiere or final cut.

Hi Tom,

I'm a Vegas Pro 8 user and find its a great NLE for the PC Platform but cost quite a bit. However Vegas Movie Studio Platinum Pro is a fraction of the price and has many attributes of Pro 8. IMHO I find Vegas is a powerful NLE with a simple interface.

Tom,

Adobe does have Premiere Elements (kinda Photoshop Elements for the video world) for around $99. I've used it with some 5dmkii stuff and it works fine - steep learning curve however. As a side note, if you end up purchasing Adobe Web Premium you'll get Soundbooth as well to help with the sound files (if you capture them separately that is).

Good luck

I've used most of the entry level video editing software out there. I've had the best luck with Pinacle. I've used them since version 7, back then it would crash your system often. The later versions are much more stable. Just make sure your computer exceeds the requirements and you'll be able to use all the features of the program without difficulty. Just know that HD video editing is a huge system hog!

Good luck!
