Met up with Nick Moore this morning over at Sandstone Ranch. It is appearing that whenever we decide to shoot together it will be bone-chilling cold and "severe clear" conditions in the sky. (Hopefully this will change in the near future.) The light on the old barn and the twin peaks quickly lost the warm morning glow and there wasn't a dramatic sky so we both wandered and shot at whatever else caught our eyes. We had hopes of a large bird or two in the trees nearby, but no luck there.
I wandered down to the St. Vrain river (creek) and captured this image of a snowy/frosty seed pod (I assume it is a seed pod). I like the warm rays in the mist, the curved twig and the dark red seed pod against the granularity of the snow/frost. Maybe a little more DOF in the future along the branch would help (55mm,F8,iso100, tripod from ~ 8 in)?
This shot begs for a closeup, tight macro. The subject isw pretty, but there's way too much going on to detract from where you want the viewer to look.

Thanks for the comments Dave. I do have a real tight one on the subject, but no rays in the image. The latter being something else that I liked. I would have posted both, but am not a member at this time so only one image every three days.
If others also want to see a close-up, I can replace the image.

Steven, I think you did well finding these type of more intimate compostions this morning, the light on the peaks wasn't too dramatic!. I really like the seed pod with the frost, and I do like the rays of light too!. I can see what Dave is talking about though, the bright sun spot, and the oof branch do draw quite some attention of their own. Perhaps even just cropping down to below the bright sun would help?. Too bad you can't post the close up on the pod as a comparison, perhaps post that next though!.

Thanks for the comments Nick. I think cropping down will end up with a very right heavy composition (does this make sense?) and it would be better to go in tight on the seed pod. I'll have to work on the tighter shot and re-post the image.
