one from this afternoon, this bird came so close that I almost fell off the chair !

Not a perfect shot by any means as he managed to obscure him (her) self whilst trying to hide from the Reed Warblers and Chaffinch's but none the less I'm quite pleased with it.

Can someone please say if this is oversharpened ?, now I've found out how to do it I'm not sure how to best judge it !!

should say that I'm using this lens combo as an experiment to find a relatively light weight set up for a hopeful exotic holiday later this year (redundancy pending), I have everything covered from 10mm through to 600mm by using a 1.4 and a 2x convertor all in a medium sized rucsac

It doesnt appear over-sharpened to me. In fact it looks good n sharp.

I'm very impressed with the sharpness from that combo! I havent tried a 2x on my 120-300 2.8.

Looks fine , as for the pose in situations like that you have to take what you get.

Sharpening looks fine to me too! As mentioned, the pose could be better, but this shot really shows the lovely markings on the feathers and that amazing eye!

Great eye Steve, I can just see it watching the smaller birds closely
