Hello California forum,
If any of you are around Garrapata and Pfieffer Beach this Sat, Sunday or Monday say hi if you spot someone shooting medium format wearing red goretex in the rain. I am hoping there will be some photogenic breaks in the weather around sunrise or sunset. I will be passing through on my way home from some meetings in LA. I have been a lurker here for a while and love the work I have seen. Hope to see some of you out there or even at a good watering hole. Any recommendations on good economy class restaurant/bars near Big Sur lodge?

Economy class? This is Big Sur you're talking about, haha :) Nepenthe is good and reasonable for lunch, not familiar with any bars or dinner spots. I'd stop in Carmel if you can, lots more choices there.

Depending on the time your done in Big Sur you might have to stop in Big Sir for food.

The Restaurant/ bar where Fernwood is in Big Sur is open late and serving late too. It's a few minutes south of the main gas station there on the west side of the road. There are lots of single women looking for non locals if you know what I mean. There is a restaurant in Carmel that isn't expensive too. It's on the east side of the road and decorated with bears all over it so it's hard to miss. Wish I could be up there but I'll be stuck in Malibu teaching a workshop.

If you've never been to Nepenthe, you should just go there to see it. I don't know anything reasonably priced in that area. I usually go a bit north to Pacific Grove which is nice but not so trendy.

There are some great photography galleries in Carmel, if the recession hasn't killed them.
