Fox on the patio
from about half an hour ago, been after this shot for ages but it never quite seems to come good so i was very happy for about a minute and then i saw Justin's post, lots of tweaking of the environment here, added plenty of leaves to make the one big one hiding the raisins less conspicuos. Also the watering can and the planks of wood in the corner were added for a sense of urban garden setting. Thought my Dad posed admirably too, didn't even have to ask him. Long exposure for the light on the inside and flash bounced off a white plasctic surface for the fox.

Probably a bit near the bottom of the frame for some and the tail is a bit off the edge

40D + 12-24mm + 580ex flash + radio remote
1.6 sec @ f11
ISO 640
FULL FRAME

This is superb Jack and I bet it took one hell of a lot more effort and planning than my Short eared owl.

Hi Jack
If this is not a stitched image and I assume it isn't as you would have said, I think this is brilliant! Certainly well thought out.
Great stuff.

A well planned and executed shot - nice that the fox stood still eating for 1.6 seconds as well .............. :toast:

Superb stuff!

Well planned, it seem to have paid off very nicely at long last!

thanks for the comments all,

not stitched at all John wouldn't know how,

Graham there isn't any light outside so the 1.6 seconds doesn't have any effect on the fox it just shows the light inside the house, the exposure from the fox comes from the flash so is pretty much the speed of light, good for stopping action

Great picture to illustrate an article on urban foxes, it would please most picture editors, well worked out and well taken.

Nothing much wrong with this, an excellent shot. Would, I’m sure, do well in the Urban Wildlife section of the Wildlife Photographer of the year comp.

Superbly thought out and executed.

Hi Jack. I've had this in my mind for so long so really pleased you managed to capture this. It is a cracking shot. There are so many details here that show real care and forethought. Love the composition too. The soft/reflector box has worked perfectly.
