Vacation spots not too far away??

Hey guys, I know I posted this in the general discussion section but...

Is there somewhere close to Black Mountain, NC that I can go for some good Avian action? I'm looking to take a little vacation to the beach or something this summer and want to have some good opportunities to get some shots of some waders and shorebirds.

Where do you all usually go in the summer for this?
