The animal was captured, photographed and collared Southwest of Tucson. Sounds unbelievable but they have also been spotted in Central Mexico. A study for tracking habitual movements of mountain lions and black bears captured the kitty. It was a male weighing 118 lbs. with a thick and solid build. With all the vehicle and pedestrian fences it makes you wonder if the cats are affected by them. Here is a link to the article with photos.

If any of you are offering photo safaris in Arizona let know.

*posted in Hot Topics forum too and not sure where it should be posted. Please let me know which one is incorrectly placed so I can delete it.

I'd heard they found one of these awhile back. Pretty awesome huh? Can you imagine seeing that wandering the desert?

It'll be just great when there's a giant wall through the middle of their territory..

I believe Joe McDonald is offering a photosafari to Brasil's Pantanal for jaguars. They see on average 1.85 jaguars per day at the Jaguar Research Center. I doubt doing a phototrip in Arizona would be financially viable at an average sighting of 1 every 10 years. But good luck to you if you decide to do it.

Don, mentioning an Arizona safari was just a wise crack. I'd love to go to Brazil though. Our one jaguar has a collar on it. :frown:
