Ground Glass Question

I'm trying to locate the brightest ground glass I can for the old Tachihara 45 I have. I have seen some glass that is super bright without the darkcloth, and always wondered what it was. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thank you!

Did it appear to have concentric rings? If so, it was probably sandwiched with a Fresnel lens. I have one on my Wista. They are brighter than a plain GG. I wouldn't call it "super bright" though. I've never seen a GG that was so bright that no dark cloth was needed.

Bosscreen, Maxwell, and Beattie Intenscreen are all worth checking out.

CGR, from what I could find on line about recent LF brighter GG, the Maxwell and BosScreen companies that Guy has listed get good comments. I have the Beattie Intenscreen in my 6x7cm MF and the Wista Bright Screen on my Wista DXIII LF. Both of those products work very well and I cannot imagine not having them to aid with focusing in low light conditions.

Great, thanks guys. The glass on there isn't a fresnel - its better than that (at least the plastic ones), but its got some sort of grease that will not come off and it also has a chip in it.

The BosScreen was the one I saw on someone's field camera and was shocked at how bright it was. Thanks again!
