NANPA impressions - slightly OT
Last week was NANPA's annual summit meeting in Albuquerque, and RMNP members in attendance were Steve Weaver, Adam Schallau, Josh Hardin, Ken Wyatt, Don Grall and me - I don;t know if others were there.

My only other NANPA summit was Denver, 2006 and much has changed since then. Three years ago, many photographers were just finding their way in the digital world. This year, virtually everyone is on the digital wave and breakout sessions were geared towards digital submissions, workflow, keywording, etc. But the biggest change I noticed was the full-on conservation photography movement. We saw mind-blowing presentations by Art Wolfe, Norbert Rosing, Bill Fortney and others sharing their conservation project imagery. I'm quite sure I'll never see a better presentation than Art's.

I managed to take a few images with my new Canon G10 from the summit - none with people in them.

We tried to behave ourselves.........

Darn, that NPPPP rule must have killed all your fun at NANPA.

Thannks for the trip report, Dave.
I always enjoy aerial views of the dunes.

Wow, what a fantastic collection of images! That windows shot is awesome.

Great stuff, Dave. I'm with Todd on the windows shot. It's wonderful.

Count me in there too. The windows image was really terrific. Hope you guys can share some of the wisdom and knowledge that you gained at the convention.

Nice! The dunes shot is great. I'm jealous about the Art Wolfe presentation... I'd have loved to see that.

It was great seeing you guys out there. Dave summed up the experience pretty well. I left Albuquerque with a complicated mix of feelings including: inspiration, humility (especially after seeing Art's presentation) and even downright anger about environmental degradation after seeing images by many photographers depicting topics from the melting of the polar regions to deforestation in the tropics. The experience will probably be changing the way I think about the photos I take in the future.

Great shots Dave. I like the window photo too, but it is also very cool to see that aerial perspective of the dunes! Later this week (once I've recovered a little bit more from the summit) I'll probably be posting images from the High Road to Taos and Sangres from my drive there and back.

Great set of images. I gues when in Abq we need to watch our "P's" and Q's. The windows and the plane shots are my favorites, but they are all great. How about more info from the meeting for those of us too destitute to attend?

That window shot is simply awesome!! Really like the other urban environment shots too! When did you find time to do these? I agree with your assessments, especially Art Wolf's mind blowing presentation.

It was great meeting my fellow RMNPers at the NANPA Summit. This was my first summit and I'm eagerly looking forward to Reno next year. I missed Art Wolfe but did catch Bill Fortney and Norbert Rosing, both of whom gave wonderful and motivating presentations.

Dave, I love the window shot. And the bar, is that the one Steve and I found you passed out in front of?

It was great to meet so many other RMNPers at NANPA! Dave, great pix! Here's another image from the Summit - Steve Holt's (of StockPix.com) unique gimbal mount.
