I might be pushing it with the nature theme, but this old Buick is trapped pretty deep in the Lower Buffalo Wilderness near Big Creek. I don't know how long it has been there but the only traffic near it are horses.

I had almost all of my digital stuff stolen last week and have been going through old film since it seems like that is what I will be shooting for a while until I can find some money for new digital stuff.

Anyway I shot these November 2007 on some print film with an old SRT 201. I have always really like this series

Don't they make you wonder, how it got there, who abandoned it...kinda sad. Good captures though, they evoke a mood.

Very interesting, Matthew - I liked all of them, but the one you've featured is my favorite. I might like a little more space in the frame around your subject, but it works for me.

I like this one too, Matt - interesting how much the grill, turned-up fenders, and headlights resemble a face - looks like the car just finally took a nose dive into the ground...

Sorry you lost your gear. I hope you had it listed on your homeowners policy.

Certainly a unique photo and well done.

I rent and did not have renters insurance at the time. I do now and for 14 bucks a month they will cover all my property anywhere in the world. The problem is the $1000 deductible. They really didn't steal that much stuff. A Sony A300, a point and shoot super zoom, my three year old ipod, and a few filters. I am really glad I didn't buy the Carl Zeiss for it. I would have been very angry if that was stolen with the camera

The only thing I will replace is the Sony and I may buy another a300 they are on sale for $569 at best buy and I really liked that camera other than the very tiny viewfinder. It did a good job of getting out of my way and just taking pictures. I really like the live view on it because of the way it focused, no mirror flip or any lag time it just worked.

This may be fun. If anyone has any camera suggestion(I'm sure just about everyone will) let me know. I probably wont spend more than $1000, but I would be interested to here everyone opinions and personal experiences on the subject.

If you do decide to go with an A300, you might check B&H. They offer a couple of bundles, one of which includes the camera and 18-70 lens for $599, free shipping and no sales tax.

How did your gear get stolen?

By the way, here's what this beauty might have looked like in happier days.

Out of my car in the middle of the night. I forgot to bring it inside. It is my fault really. 569 at best buy includes the 18-70 and wow that picture of the mint Buick is crazy compared to mine.

Sorry to hear about your equipment Matthew. I would imagine that all of us have been victims at one time or another to theft.

The image does make one think about how the car got there and for me goes a step further by documenting the huge problem of the blight of old cars and farm equipment rusting away all over America. :frown:
