I had the honor of photographing a world class skier yesterday at Copper Mountain. Conditions were difficult, with steady snowfall and a high moisture content. By the end of the day, I was able to literally wring out my glove liners, since everytime I took off my gloves to photograph, my hands got wet with snow, and that wetness was introduced back into the gloves when putting them back on. I changed lenses at lunchtime from a non-weatherproof 100-400L to a weatherproof 24-105L. By the end of the day, my camera and lenses looked like they were out in a rainstorm, but everything functioned just fine, minus some operator error on occasion.

As a nearly lifelong resident of Colorado, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the mountains were getting hammered yesterday while I was in a t-shirt in Pueblo (and heading towards 70 today!), but MAN that's a mind-blower! Cool shots, Don, but I haven't a clue who it is, unless Brauer left his San Juans paradise to slum it in the Tenmile Range.

I'm going to go with that avid mountain climber and notorious Mt Evans road biker (on his birthday) with a British accent!!

You are all correct, it was Jody! I've been skiing for almost 30 years but didn't start until I was 25. I consider myself an advanced skier by most standards, but certainly not an expert. I have been fortunate to have a few skiing friends over the years that are at the expert level. It took less than half a run to realize I was in the presence of someone with exceptional talents. The visibility most of the day was poor to non-existant but watching Jody you would have thought it was a clear, sunny day regardless of the terrain we were on. His skill set is ridiculous!
What camera body did you use?
Adam: I was using 1DsMkIII which is weatherproof and it didn't miss a beat even though melting snow was literally dripping off of it.
