My Attempt at a Stormy shot.

There is alot of posterization in the upper clouds on the storm shot. But the ice shot is nicely composed and exposed.

Hmm Didn't have any Filters on the Camera at all Not even an ND Grad. I've been toying with filterless images.

I don't know what to say James. The filters wouldn't have anything to do with posterization. That comes from the digital processing. I'm speaking specifically about the large flat areas of solid tone in the clouds at the center. I don't think its blown out because the snow below it brigther, but it is blocked into one solid tone.
This second image does not appear to have any posterization issues, but I see broad horizontal bands on the upper left and right.

I really like the ice abstarct you posted! It's quite beautiful.
You might consider 'losing' the white bubble that looks like a pill there on the right.
Real nice save from a less than friendly day!

Mel, I misread what you said the first time and thought you meant Polarization. I see what you're talking about slightly as it does not show as strongly on my LCD. Howver I looked at the Image in Photoshop and see a little more. Now I compaired the JPEG I uploaded to the RAW and Image I posted on my own site and see that the Bigger uncompressed files don't have as much issues and the RAW is 100% clear. So must be the compression and upload that are causeing the Banding and Posterization.

Well thanks guys, I've been in a bit of a Funk because I've been so busy shooting news for the TV Station and not able to get out and shoot for myself. Even though I didn't get what I set out to get, I came away with some great consolation prizes.

I absolutely love the ice abstract! I think the second shot might be stronger as a pano with some of the foreground cropped out.
