Friday evening at Konza Prairie
This was taken fri. evening before our Flint Hills gathering. taken about the same time as Merle's, I must have been on the hill just above him.

Wayne, I've been experimenting a little with luminosity masks since you and Rob were talking about using them. I really like how easy it is to control the adjustments you can do to highlights and shadows. Looks like a lot of potential.

Nice capture Ken. I think you may have been just ahead of me. I shot the trees just around the corner visible in the right side of your shot. I made it to the parking area about 20 minutes after sunset. I love the way the colors start to "pop" . The layers and shadows on the hills change every few minutes and really keep you on your toes. The rocks in the fg provide a nice anchor for the grasses.

Very nice, Ken! The foreground rock adds a lot of interest to me, and is one of the elements I love most about prairie images. Beautiful scene...

Nice shot Ken, I like how the triangular wedges carry contrasting light/dark areas. The grasses look super and the rocks anchors the fg nicely and of course the light/shadow play on the distant hills is great. Well seen and done.

I hope to finally have time to work with the luminousity masks. I haven't quite figured out how to use them properly but there is no doubt in my mind they will be very useful at time. Let me know if you figure out any tricks with them.

It looks like the Flint Hills are a great area to photograph as everyone keeps bringing out nice stuff. Wish I coulda been there.

Ken, I like the foreground color fading back into the more muted tones. The diagonals make it dynamic and the rocks are a nice find. Well done!

I envy you and Merle for being able to get out Friday night- this is a fine image, and I agree that the rocks help anchor the foreground, it looks tilted to the right to me but this might be an illusion

I really like the placement of the rock in the foreground in this shot, nicely done!
