Deep Creek, sunset tree
Merle and I went back to where the day started along Deep Creek before separating. The light on this tree was fantastic, and I know I don't do justice to the original scene. I've tried separating the tree from the background, but not sure that I can separate it enough. What do you think? 50D, f/11, ISO 400, 1/100

Hi Rob, this shot was made looking south so you & Merle must have been on Old K-18 (running east-to-west) and not on Deep Creek Road.

I like the layers of warm light and shadow and, how you placed the lit tree primarily against the shadowed bg. I'm not smart enough to know how you could further separate the shadowed sections of the tree from the bg. This intimate extraction looks pretty darn good to me. Well done!

This is fabulous, Rob. Ditto to what Wayne said about the light. The tree has a really nice shape, and your placement in front of the shadowed BG was obviously well-thought out. Nice work!

Hey Rob, I remember that tree. I shot it and then went on down the road to shoot the corral I posted earlier. Nice capture and placement of the tree against the background.

Let's do it again when it isn't so darn cold and windy....

You're right, Wayne, it was on Old K-18, not Deep Creek Road. Merle, I remember you commenting on the light when you pulled up. I'm willing to give it a go in warmer weather :).

Looks pretty good to me! I got some shots of this tree that morning (I think it is the same tree anyway) but nothing near as good as this shot.
