thrashing swan
hi all

Been really busy at work so not been on the forum for a few weeks. Had some free time at the weekend and went to Chew Valley lake, Bristol. Caught this Swan thrashing around preening. The light was rather harsh and from behind the subject, but I like the way this catches the water spray.

techs,
D3 + Sigma 300-800mm @800 1/1000 sec @ f13
tripod and gimbal head

about 80% of original

thanks for looking

cheers
Colin

Captured the action well

Shame about the harsh lighting.

It's a great shot and I really like the lightin. My only niggle is that the bird is a tad low in the frame but otherwise excellent. Cheers, Mark

An excellent action shot. Agree about it being low in the frame, but on the otherhand I like the way the water splash has been included to the full. Nice one.

Excellent. I quite like the composition as it accentuates the water splashing around, great pose too with beak open, well caught!

Dramatic action very well captured. I agree it's a little low and to compensate, you could lose a little from the left and top, giving more emphasis to the action.

Good action and well captured. The back-lighting works well.

Great action and good advantage taken of the lighting conditions

Not sure if there is a starling in those water droplets
