This small lochan in the Cairngorm National Park was iced over but one lone rock protruded through. The effects of weak sun on the rock has warmed it and allowed it to create an open area around itself. By moving myself relative to the sun I was able to highlight the water and create this kind-of atmospheric image.

I like this, it does work for me; although I think a bit more cloud cover over the sun to tone down the "hot" area in the sky may have been to your advantage.

I like the image overall John, but think the sky need a little bit of calming down. My eye is going towards the sky and I want to be looking at the stone area popping out of the frozen lake.
I like it but my eye is also drawn to the hole in the sky. I think this would also work as a more abstract shot without the sky and trees - but that might be too creative
Thanks for the comments. Aye the hole in the sky is a bit fierce, but as always its a compromise - another stop or two less filtration on the sky would certainly pull the hole down but it would also make the surrounding sky jet black. So I opted for the middle ground!!
