The new site is a bit hit and miss but this barn owl made one pass as I arrived that came close enough to take a few shots.

Hi Bob,
I have been following your recent shots with interest and am very envious of them, but to my eye, they all have a violet cast. I confess I am not really sure how that happens or why, Wiser birds may have the answer. The whites on the chest look good, but the wing and tail margins, the crown of the head and the sky appear to have a colour cast on my monitor. I see the same on your other shots as well, so it may be your processing or my dodgy eyes!
It would have been nice not to have lost the wing tip, but if any is missing at all on the original, I think you have made the correct call by concentrating on the head and body.
Another fine shot. Eric
Hi Bob,
A good close-up view but has it been quite substantially cropped? The reason I ask is, although the bird still looks quite detailed and sharp, the image apears to have quite a lot of noise, most evident on the background and on the owls far wing. More than I'd expect at that iso setting, although I'm not familiar with the 50D.

Nice tight image, but as already noted there seems to be quite a lot of purple and green noise in areas of the image!
