Great Cormorant Phalacrocorax carbo, hated by anglers, but a truly stunning looking bird with great poise and reptilian looks!
Another subject where laying in the mud and getting very wet and messy was the order of the day!

Hi Nigel,
Great shot of a Great Comorant. Background and foreground look good and the subject is nice and sharp. The majority of the blacks look good too.

Great looking birds when they have their breeding plummage and always that fantastic eye, Under rated photographically and you never see many on the forums,Great POV works well although a slightly higher one would have given an even background-best of both worlds-Very nice
That's a stunner Nigel and if any bird deserves the close-up treatment it's got to be this one with that wondrful eye.
I think the pale coloured water works very well too and helps put the full emphasis on the bird and the colours of the face and eye.

Fab eye! The DOF is spot on, the cormorant almost seems to be emerging from low mist
