I finally got around to processing another shot from the Flint Hills. This was captured Saturday, 2-21-09 at 5:40 pm. My back was to the setting sun- and to also block the wind.

Thanks for looking. By the way, Rob was just out of sight over the last hill in the road..

I like the repeating patterns of the road and then the hills, Merle. The distant tree anchors the end of the fence line. IMO, cropping most of the sky helps the image.

Hey, where did the road go? You told me that you liked to shoot roads and such. Seeing this scene shot at 195 really changes the perspective. Nicely seen and done Merle!
I agree with Rob that a slight crop off the top makes this even more appealling.

Thanks guys. I did eliminate a yellow road sign at the end of the road showing a very sharp left turn... How does this crop work ?

Merle, nice capture, man those are some rolling hills!

That is an interesting shot Merle, it makes the viewer wonder where the road goes when it disappears over the hill. I like second crop better also.
I always like the way telephoto compacts the perspective in these types of shots.
By the way, if possible, it is way colder here today than last Sat. Five degrees this morning with a strong north wind.

Well done Merle.

Merle,
I think I like the second version slightly better than the first. Love those hills!

Nice shot Merle. Wish I'd been there with you guys.
Thank you all for your kind comments.
Ken, If it had been that cold when we were there I think our shots would have been a lot shakier than they are. Or, we would have warmed up with some obnoxious liquid that would have calmed us and warmed us.
Glenn, I'm looking forward to the next time we can shoot together.
Darren, If more folks actually explored "flyover country" they would move here. Please don't encourage them......
I like the second version without the sky better. That is a very cool shot and I like the warm, golden light. My dad used to call these short hills with sharp descents "dipsy dos". They're fun to go over FAST !!!
