My first Short Eared Owl
I spent thursday and friday with some SEOs (and Colin and Barry :wavey: ). The weather was pretty dire, very overcast which sapped all the light and colour out of the surroundings. Still, it was nice to get my first shots of these birds. I got some closer ones but this was probably my favourite shot of the two days.

D300, 600 + 1.4x (also cropped), 1/320, f6.3, ISO 1600, white balanced to bring some much needed warmth back!

The head turn adds to the picture and the eyes are something else nice picture under the circumstances.

It works for me.
Love the eye contact and the composition and space surrounding the bird work great.

The head turn really makes it, an excellent shot, well seen/composed and taken.

Those eyes just pop from my screen - I've been abck to this several times and it gets better with each view.

Great capture.

Works well for me... the owl stands out well against the pastel shades of the surroundings....

Almost cartoon like and you expect it to 'smack' straight into a tree..! Nicely captured and good eye contact...

LOL @ Brett

Great head-turn - what a fly-past! The setting is great too, almost ghostly. Like it a lot
