Setting Moon
This is a shot from the Flint Hills outing taken that morning before the sun came up (I can't believe I have a photo now that was taken *before* the sun came up!). This was about the only one I got that day that I liked. I've posted a few more from the outing at:

Canon 40D, 24-105L @ 55mm, ISO 400, f4, 1/2 sec, handheld (I was too cold to get my tripod set up at this point!)

I also managed to get some shots of some wildlife while out on K18, the elusive species "NPNium photographerous"

Scott, the first shot is really nice! The moon adds a special feeling to the gradients before sunrise. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Scott, I really like your predawn shot, nice vivid colors. I also like what you did at Pillsbury Crossing. I can never seem to get a good comp out of that place but you have three very nice comps that given the right light would be a very nice addition to any portfolio.

Thanks for sharing!

Hey Scott, That first shot has some great colors in it. At least you got one - I was to cold to concentrate of anything. I took some shots - but - well, we know where they went. I seem to recognize the black jacket and Carharts in the wildlife shot. Obviously we were to cold to use tripods also.

I looked at your other shots and the Pillsbury Crossing shots have a totally different perspective than I was shooting. Well done. I didn't think to go downstream for shots.

Wow, some beautiful pre-dawn color you caught here, Scott. The others on your website look pretty good too, especially the old stone building remnants...bet there's some good B&W potential lurking around there somewhere.

I really like the moon shot Scott. There's something about the lonely crescent moon in the sky and then echoed with the lonely tree that really appeals to me.

Nice shot! I love the placement of the crescent moon with the trees. The colors are great. You got some nice shots at Pillsbury, too.

nice job on catching the moon early enough to be low, and the colors are great

I really like this shot too Scott. You did a nice job hand held at 1/2 sec, of course maybe you were frozen solid.

I tried some like that but they didn't turn out at all.

I think I was frozen! At least now I know that the IS on canon's lenses works well at cold temps!
