I have heard there is an amazing amount of snow geese flocking in the Mt. Vernon area.
Before I make the 60+ mile drive (one way); can anyone confirm this?
I haven't been scouting the side roads too consistently, but I have been seeing gaggles along I5 in that area every time I have driven by. Not sure how large of a gaggle will satisfy your interests, but I can almost guarantee you'll see some.

Was just up there today. In one spot, there must have been over a 1000 geese covering an entire field in white. However they were all on private land making access impossible - not sure even a 600mm would have helped. Worth checking out but all depends on where they decide to hang out for the day!
I was there about 2 weeks ago. Thousands of geese! Best to leave i-5 at Conway and cruise the back roads between there and LaConner. Sometimes takes awhile to find 'em. But they should still be in the area and well worth the trip. Good luck.
Catherine is right on the money about getting off at the Conway exit. I was out on Saturday and they were moving around a bit. It is a good idea to get up here early in the morning. You can get some great shots of them coming in off of the bay. There is also some great shots of the Swans flying in too. The eagles have been sitting on the nest at the wildlife viewing area west of Conway.
If you can get up here for the birds now is a good time to start scouting out some tulip and daffodil shots. They are not blooming but you may get some ideas as to where you want to shoot later. It looks like a barn or two may be in the works for this years shots. Just my two cents so the days are getting longer and the light is getting better.
