Little Grebe in early evening.
I'd never been to this mere before (and it is only 12 miles from home) but had my very first first sighting of a Hen Harrier as I got out of the car. Unfortunately I was unable to get any pictures but the late evening light was wonderful and this dabchick was quite obliging. Needless to say I shall be returning as soon as I get the chance.

Nice light rob, the colours are very nice, but the Dabchick doesnt JUMP off the screen at me.

Btw which mere? (pm me if you wish).

Can see what you were aiming for - nice comp and colours, shame the water wasn't more photogenic - too many ripples/weeds for me

I think it's just a case of not being quite close enough and perhaps the angle of shot could have been improved. Apart from that the colours are fantastic !

am with Paul on this, the brightness of the water hides the grebe a little. The two darker ripples/weeds on the surface towards the top of the frame could be cloned out and I wonder if some selective darkening of the grebe may help?
