40D, 400/2.8 + 1.4 (560mm), 393 upon tripod
ISO640, 1/800 @ f8, manual metered from the the dry grasses.
ACR5 + resize + sharpen CS4, Full Frame.

Hi,

Spent an enjoyable Saturday afternon with Tony, Brett and Fran and two of these wonderfull birds, could have cropped in closer but prefered the image as shown... the owl had locked onto its prey and was coming in lower and lower....

All the best

Beautiful environment shot - great pose and comp, shame about the tree below it as that draws my eye a bit, but guess you couldn't ask him to move!

Nice one Phil, great enviro shot.

Hi Phil
I like this image as cropped beautiful light and telling a story. I really dislike the enviro label, how big does the crop have to get before it's no longer an enviro image? The label seems to suggest the image is down graded for some reason when I don't think it should be.

Very nice :toast:

Great capture - the wing position and legs especially. Nicely composed too, like it
