Another week, another great batch of images in the Fauna Gallery! It was a pleasure to view all the images during the past week and, as always, picking just one as the "Pick of the Week" was challenging.
At least 3 images merit honourable mention. Lon Sharp's "Prairie Layers With Elk" is a wonderful animalscape that does a great job of showing an elk in its natural environment. Julian Cox's "Leopard in Long Grass" drew lots of eyeballs and lots of praise! And Jamie Pringle reminded us that there can be gold in those slide collections with his scan of a very high contrast shot aptly named "Mountain Goat Resting in Intertidal".
I felt that James Campbell's image of a hippo in "periscope" mode - named "Above the Waterline" - was a real standout. This simple, low-level shot is a beautiful example of how to use selective focus to your advantage. Everything that should be in focus is, and everything else is tastefully excluded. Well done, James!
Thanks are extended to all who posted and/or commented on images this past week in the Fauna Gallery. Keep up the great work!
