A Venable Pursuit
I used to just take photos to document my hikes or climbs. No worries about whether the light was ideal, no running around looking for better comps. The simple life
Well to honor those good times, I just went on a nice snowshoe up to Venable Lakes yesterday in the Sangres, through the deep snow and across some steep slopes. The Falls at 2.5 miles were buried in snow and not very photogenic. The Lakes at 4 were buried in snow and not very aesthetic. But who cares?! It was a beautiful day to be out in the mountains with only the wind as a companion. Here's one of the 4 photos i took all day--at 11K ft or so--critique not required!

Sometimes a photo is most importantly about remembering the experience!

Couldn't have said it better than Carol.

Looks like a beautiful day for snowshoeing. Glad you took some time to keep it simple.

Sometimes we produce some of our best work when we're not concerned about the outcome. Looks like a beautiful place to get away from it all.

Interesting that you just wanted to document your trip...........IN BLACK AND WHITE! LOL. Hmmmm, just took the time to do a quick conversion, huh?
It's a pretty darn good shot for just a memory take!

You're an ANIMAL! Love the shot, it has a nice sweep to it.

What Carol said. And a great experience to remember too.

Thanks for the comments, folks! Morris, converting to B&W is a common ploy of mine when the shot is pretty crummy to begin with--all the better to confuse you

Sounds like a great day of solitude in the mountains. Thanks for the tale and fine image.

Great story and image. I like the BW and those clouds.
