Tufted Duck
My local pond tends to be full of mallards and gulls with little else, so I was pleasantly surprised to find this lovely lady this afternoon. I searched high and low for a male, but no such luck :frown:

Reflections not perfect due to the ripples, but this is the first I have of this species so I'm happy!

techs: 280mm, 1/400s, f5.6, iso 500

Comments welcome

Looking nice Billy, like the overall colour, the green make it quite interesting. Reflection is also nice, although I don't mind the ripples, I sometimes find a full mirror reflection a little overpowering.

tiny nit, but i'm not sure whether the eye is 100% sharp, but it is a small nit to be honest.. Difficult image to fault.

I like this one a lot Billy, though I would agree with Tim that the eye doesn't look quite sharp. I love the graduated appearance of the background.

Thanks for the comments - appreciated as always! You're right - I got the focus slightly off, thanks for pointing it out!

I also really like the colours in the water. If its cropped then a version with a bit more space at the bottom around the reflection where it runs into the edge might be an idea
