OT: Beachcombing
Last week I was out at Vandenburg Air Force Base in central California supporting a customer. I decided to travel light and only took my G9. I was fortunate to be able to get to one of the beaches on base for sunset at low tide - great beachcombing. I had great fun shooting lots of sticky, slimy stuff and critters I couldn't identify as well as the sunset.

I came across this sand dollar and cool piece of driftwood and spent lots of time with it being chased by the wash. This one is my favorite.

Here is another just for a little context, this one with some fill flash. I love the shape of the driftwood. Unfortunately, most of my wider views didn't work out.

BTW, I made a trip up to San Luis Obispo to the Really Right Stuff showroom. It was an interesting experience, they're not quite set up for walk-in traffic, but it was cool to see all of their toys. I ended up buying their macro rail.

Nice find!
I actually prefer your second one that shows the scene in a bit more context.

Nice images with great light. I also like the second one because of the wider view.

Liking #2 here Kalin,
Love the warmth of the light on the driftwood.

Great find and eye for the great beach details! I also prefer #2, that curve in the driftwood is really nice!

I also prefer the composition of the second image. Hope you aren't having to travel too much out there.
