Taken shortly after the other ones I have posted, after checking me out he turned around to carry on hunting. I like the effect of the light on the wings and face but do you think it works? The colour version is on my blog http://sussexbirdphotography.blogspot.com/

1/4000s f/6.3 ISO200 400mm

Thanks

I do like the light on the wings, but I wish either that he was flying towards you or a different wing position allowed a clear view of the face. Hope that makes sense.

The black and white works well and shows the details nicely, but as already mentioned, I would prefer to see a bit more of the birds face. Still a nice artistic shot though!

I don't think this one has lost anything for being in black and white. At the risk of repeating other comments, it would really have been better with the bird flying towards you. At the end of the day, you can only photograph what is in front of you and nature has a habit of being awkward.

Agree with the others - a bit more face would be ideal. But I think this works well given the space in the frame

I'm a HUGE B&W fan, so this hits the spot.

Thanks all, I know it would look a lot better if he was coming towards or looking at me but luck was against me.
