Birds of a Feather - update
Interesting arrangement of sparrows from Friday evening 03-06-09.

Correction: They are Purple Finches, not sparrows.

Later Correction: The birds are female Redwing Blackbirds. Females RWBs often flock together without benefit of male to lead or lend them identity. The bills are a dead giveaway.

I suspect we will be seeing lots of groupings of birds in the coming weeks. The spring migration is on!

A nice assortment of female purple finches. They'll be headed to Canada any day now.

Thanks for the clarification on ID. I could not fit them to any particular species of sparrow. I must confess that as a birder I am still very much in the learning phase.

That's the fun of being out in nature, there's always something new to experience and learn about. It certainly doesn't get boring.

Larry, you know that the bird world is just like our world where the males are the attractive ones!

For some reason there was not a male in the bunch. Would have made it easier to ID them.
