Took this image in January on a very cold day, but in wonderful light.

C&C's always welcome.

Hi Graham,

I would say in general I like the shot, the colours are great and image is pin sharp. I'm not entirley sure of the crop though. I would either make it more of a portrait or leave as a landscape but crop down on the top left? Of course this is just a personal thing though.

Nice capture !

Good shot, spent a cold day in Jan myself at Cosmeston doing these, it's not easy is it? I think I agree with the above comment re comp but it's what you like that counts.

Well done

Wonderful shot , great detail but a difficult one to crop, or not to crop , all depends on ones point of view as ever.

Personally, I like the composition exactly the way it is. A lovely shot, even if it does leave me a little jealous

Graham

What a nice capture of a very difficult species to find let alone photograph.

As is for me it shows so much off to good effect.

Thanks to all for your comments.

I have to say that I am rather proud of this one - I had previously processed a slightly different image from the series and posted that a while ago, but on comparison, it was not as sharp as this one.

Reed beds are starting to become one of my favourite environments for photographing wildlife. Working on the light and diffused backgrounds is providing me with results that I am really pleased with - plus I am lucky enough to have RSPB Rainham Marshes 10 minutes away, which helps a bit

Very very nice image. Can I ask how much ofg a crop it is, if any?

Hi Tom and thanks - the crop is probably about 70% of the original.

Lovely shot - still think some more possibilities on the comp but certainly still a cracking shot :toast: :toast:

One of my favorite euro birds,Nice comp and small enough in the frame to show the habitat-my eye is drawn to the dark reed top right so i might clone that out

Really nice image with a bit of environment around the subject. I would be very pleased with myself if this were mine.

Fab shot Graham, wonderfully lit and certainly one you should be proud of

Very nice capture, the crop should always be as you prefer it.. All very subjective in any case and for the end purpose. Good detail and light where it's needed.
