Taken this evening just after sunset. I deliberately chose a higher point of view for this one (I stood on a footbridge over the pond) to maximise the reflection of the blue sky on the water. It might not be to everyones taste, but I was in quite an artistic mood today
techs: 98mm, 1/500s, f6.3, iso 500, wb set to 4800K to emphasise the blue.
I had to black out a few details left in the bird in post processing. Anyone else noticed that its getting harder and harder to get a good sillhouette with todays high dynamic range cameras?
Thanks for looking
Billy

really like this, the colour of the water is sureal, the position of the duck in the frame is great too, plenty of ambiguity and interest here, only nit if you can call it that is that i think it would work better without the species name, not suggesting you call it something pretentious i just feel that it doesn't really matter here and cheapens the vision slightly, just my opinion though

Very artistic, the colour of the water is great, so is the composition. I'm not too sure about the reflection as I think it takes something away from the graphic-ness of the image, but I'm not too sure how easy it would be to remove... or whether it would look strange without it. I think it's just the reflection of the head/beak that is catching my eye really.
A lovely shot, nice to see something a bit different!

Nicely executed and the bird posed perfectly - quite a surreal image but certainly different - good shot!
Jack, quite an odd thing to pick up on. I don't really think about the image title when I post, maybe I should pay more attention to it!
Dawn, I only tend to do the minimal amount of processing to get the shot I invisaged (tho it might not look like it!) - I don't really think I'd feel comfortable removing the entire reflection. I agree something looks slightly off, probably introduced by the high angle that I chose, but I think that it might look even more unnatural without it.
Thanks again for the comments!

That's an interesting shot Billy. Full marks for having a go at something different. Eric
