Sunday morning was all driving snow and strong winds and very unpleasant. The effect that a telephoto lens gives in such conditions can be really interesting - if you like that sort of thing! The deer merges with the snow and the whole effect is one of a softness that belies the harshness of the day. I defocused a wee bitty to soften the deer and pick up the sharpness of the snowflakes in front.
(Lightened on Billy's suggestion - had done first image on the laptop - just looked on the desktop and agree it was too dark!)
This doesn't quite work for me. I like the idea but I think the deer is just too soft. Maybe stopping down (to maybe f11 or so) and front focussing just slightly would have given you the detail in the snow as well as some sharpness in the deer. I also think the whole image could do with brightening up a bit (the snow looks a bit grayish on my monitor at the moment).
I hope all that makes sense. Of course just my opinion and others may feel differently!!

I could see it being used as a background for a spread.

Nice idea on the defocusing.
