I won't be able to make it to LAX until the weekend starting 4/10. Would it be too late for wildflowers around AV this year? Looks like things are pretty good this year and hopefully I won't miss too much. Please let me know if there are other good places to go during that time-frame. Thanks a lot!!

AV looks to be a little later than some spots like the Merced River poppy fields this year. Take a look here for the current conditions: http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=627
I also purchased her California Wildflower Locations CD which has 230 pages of options. I think the guide is very useful in telling when the average peak months are for a particular spot. When you cross-reference that with the current year's conditions you will have a good idea of where to go. A lot can change in one month though. But I think you will definately find wildflowers during your timeframe if you continue to look.

Then check out Carol Leigh's hotsheet for the latest conditions state wide: http://www.calphoto.com/wflower.htm
