I spent ten days in Scotland at the end of Feb trying for some subjects in the mountains, it is hard going but I love working in these northern corries for subjects like ptarmigan. This male was getting fruity and ran past me as he was chasing a rival male from his females.

great pose and light, the red eyebrow patch really stands out against all the monochrome
That raised foot really makes the image come alive, and the mottled background's very nice indeed. I like the light patch in front of the bird - it's almost as if its thinking...if I get into that light patch I'll be camouflaged! Nice one and worth wading through the white stuff for!
Really nice.
If I were to be picky though I'd prefer to see his legs and flying snow against a darker bit of the dappled background, sure you would too.

Very nice, love the monochome appearance with just that splash of red.

It's weird seeing a Ptarmie on level ground! The 'eyebrow' makes it.

The wing & chest seem to be very bright to the point where no details are visible.
