There are a shed load of Coots on any body of water I care to look at in my area, but even with binoculars, the level of detail that I have seen in the last few NPN shots has amazed me. This is another example and it has inspired me to get out there this year and stop igonoring this bird. All my shots so far show a black eye rather than the red - watch this space.

Great stuff, well worth getting muddy! Exposure is spot on, and good composition too!

The detail on this is brilliant Joe. Very difficult to get the exposure correct but the apparently overcast conditions have helped you nail it perfectly.

Exposure is spot on Joe, nicely composed with a great point of view. I'm another who "must try harder" with coots
