Jeff,

#5 is my favorite shot, the color, the clouds, really make it work. those bands are striking. Reminds me of Factory Butte near Hanksville, but that is not as colorful. One thing you might try to do is crop some of the foreground elements up out of the frame - the scrub brush for example. Try with a sheet of paper - if you do this it kind of makes it look like a painting imo with the crop.

#3 second fav, great colors but not the strongest composition. #2 is a great comp, would like to see it in rich color, just dodge out the dark mid-upper left shadow by 5%.

Hey man, I like them all! The dark sky in some is really cool. I also love the light in #5.

Very productive trip, Jeff. Good work!

For some reason the foreground elements are working for me now in #5. Took another look at it, funny how that works.

I think the jpeg compression is hurting the layers in #1, but 2-5 are very well done. Beautiful light and the BW treatment in #2 is great. Nice work.

I also like #5 - the clouds really add some drama. I like them all, but wish there was a little more shadow or something in #1 to emphasize the layers. Where did you find these wonderful landforms?

The colors in #5 are amazing, as is the light in #3. Good stuff! Looks like an incredible place.

Great series Jeff. I really like the b/w shot ... a very worthwhile b/w conversion in red rock country.

I also like the b&w image. Just wish it was larger.

Thanks for all the comments! Chris - I kow what you mean about going back to an image and have a 'nit' suddenly seem to work upon further review. Jamie - The first two are from 'The Chains' hiking area between Page and the damn dam. There is a lot of area there to explore with a lot of wierd rock formations. Three and four are off of RT89 before you get to the BLM (Bureau of Leasing and Mining) field office. It is trailed now, but six years ago when I was first there I just stumbled upon them the by dumb luck after wandering around for a while. And the last one is close to the old Paria movie set.

Nice collection! I stopped at the toadstools on the way back from Zion in Nov--cool place if you can avoid power lines. I love the Black and White, its the winner for me.
