Right out of the top draw, the real icing on the cake, would have been to have both eyes, but you knew that anyway. Just superb.

Hi,thanks for your comments. Phil it was a 40D Canon and Bob I cannot remember if it was taking off or landing. By the end of my Trip I had 1200 images in a special folder. :toast:

Putting on my graphic designers hat I would say I love the 2-tone bg as it amkes a beautiful colour palette - this is a lovely shot

Beautiful subject well captured. I hope you don't mind but I'd love to know the circumstances around how this image was captured, and also to hear the opinions of other contributors about a potentially contentious subject.

Andrew - we don't mind you asking, but would rather - out of courtesy to John & his image - that the question was put in it's own topic. That way this topic can stay as an image critique. Thanks. The Mods

Absolute stunner John!

When I saw the title of this post I was ready for a stunner and I'm not disappointed. Two eyes would have topped it as mentioned and I kinda get a bit agitated that I don't know whether it's coming or going but what beautiful colours and background. It looks like there is fine mist coming off the wings.

Glad to see it all worked out in the end! Not overly keen on the split background, but I'm sure you've got many others from the 1200.

I'm undecided on the BG John so leaving that aside it's a superb capture of an awesome bird :wavey:

I saw some of the images the Norwegians brought back the other week and I must say I was impressed

I know you'll have a surfeit of 'stonkers' in that 1200 John
