In an attempt to bring people together more often throughout the year, myself and Neil Corman have decided to try out a quarterly get-together for photographers at our gallery spaces on Tennyson Street. The events will not be art showings, but they will consist of presentations by accomplished artists, discussions about marketing, knowledge sharing on all aspects of photography by all of you, among many others. Of course the real purpose is to get together more often and share our common interest.
We have scheduled a kickoff meetup for Saturday, April 4th at 6pm at Bentwave and gallery nrc on Tennyson Street. We can get pizzas and other cuisine from Parisi across the street if everyone likes. This will be a great opportunity to begin thinking about stuff we can do at future meetings. Also, we don't want to limit this to only Denver area photographers, which is something we can talk further about too!
If you wouldn't mind RSVP'ing to the kickoff so we know who will be coming, you can do so here: http://gallerynrc.com/rmnp.php
I love it! Any reason is a good reason to visit Tennyson I just have to see if I can swing it. My sister is visiting at the time but maybe I can drag her with me... poor thing won't know what hit her

Cool idea. Wish I lived a bit closer! Hopefully, I'll be nearby and can make it to a future meeting.

Sounds like a great/fun idea. I'd love to participate if my schedule cooperates!

Sent my RSVP Chris. I have photographs on display for the next 2 months at Tastes Wine Bar & Bistro at Tennyson and 42nd St. The First Friday Artwalk is a great time for those of you who haven't had a chance to do so in the past.
Sounds like a great idea. I won't be able to make it for a while as I have to run my gallery during these winter weekends. When things change, I'd really like to make it down there.

Scott, yeah sorry I was out of town last First Friday. I'll head over to Tastes and check out your work. Erik I just remembered that about your gallery. We'll have many more forthcoming!

I just RSVPd--I almost forgot!!! I can bring $ for food to contribute in lieu of my nonexistent expertise. I'll try to make it down for 1st Fri. too. Thanks for organizing this!
I am game and planning on gong barring anything coming up.

Look forward to seeing those who have responded so far and are attending, it looks like it will be a good crowd. While there is a parking lot associated with the galleries, it may be easiest to park along Tennyson Street for this event.
If you are planning to attend and have not RSVP'd yet you may do so at the link at the top of the page. It should be a great weekend of events with First Friday on the 3rd, and this event on the 4th.
Thanks Neil... remember if you want to eat we'll get pizza and whatever from Parisi, also BYOB if you'd like to have an adult beverage. I'll bring some bottled water and some pop.

Neil, will there be a presentation/discussion topic for this meeting?
Posted by Neil Corman on March 29, 2009 at 7:46 PM
Chris and I have discussed it over the past week and for this session we will cover two topics. The first being the galleries a little background about them and what we look for when inviting people to show. The other topic which will be in more detail is marketing and getting your work out there. This does tie in with the gallery topic but there is much more to this as well. Most people are familiar with the traditional approaches but there is so much out there these days that we will start to talk about those.
While we will start to discuss these topics it is also an open forum to discuss what has worked for you in the past and ask questions so we may all learn from our lessons learned. While we will have varying levels of photographers in attendance I feel that there is always something which may be learned from your peers.
Really looking forward to this Chris! I was too wiped after work today to make the drive for First Friday but looking forward to that as well.

Just want to bump this again.
Thank you for your interest in the event, and with a response from members of NPN from Ft Collins to the Springs who indicated they would be attending it was best to err on the side of caution with this spring storm. Chris and I will talk this week and get a reschedule date posted soon for the event.
Well, Chris, although I was looking forward to this and delayed the start of my vacation to attend, I think you properly erred on the side of safety.
My sympathies to the high school that canceled their prom this evening because of the forecast! That's got bo be a HUGE pile of cash wasted for deposits!
