OT: Birds Of Florida
Hey all. I was in southwest Florida for the first 10 days of the month basking in the warm 80+ sunshine (which didn't suck...let me tell you!). The main purpose of the trip was to meet up with a number of old Minnesota friends (none of whom were photographers) for some fun in the sun. Of course, I can't go down to FLA without doing some sort of bird photography so I mixed that in whenever I could. Just thought I'd share a couple of birdie shots from the trip. The first shot above is one of the many osprey found on Sanibel Island (near Fort Myers). I didn't take what I'd technically call a landscape shot the entire trip, so it was a nice change of pace photography-wise. You can look at my PBase gallery if you'd like to see some more.

Here's one more of a pair of Burrowing Owls in Cape Coral. Unfortunately, these cute little buggers weren't very cooperative for the most part. This was the only acceptable shot I got after scouting out more than 15 nests.

Love the owls! Looks like they are proud guardians of their domain.

The owl giving you the stink-eye is terrific!
Actually, your entire Florida gallery is superb!! My absolute favorite is the 'Reddish Egret Taking A Bow'.
You should be thrilled with the quality of the work you got while you were there, Guy.
Did you haul along your new tripod?

Thanks John. I was very happy with the images I came away with considering the somewhat limited time I had to shoot. The Feisol definitely passed the sand and salt test on the gulf beaches. The only problem I had was with those silly rubber feet. The first time I set up in Little Estero Lagoon, the mucky bottom claimed two of them (which I didn't realize until later). Feisol needs to come up with a better design there. I hope they sell them separately as I can see needing to buy a dozen (or more) of them!
