A quick question for those D300 users out there. Can you do multiple exposures in camera like the D200? I checked Nikon's website and could not find an answer.
Thanks for your help,
Ed

Hi Ed,

Yes you can take from 2-10 exposures in a single photograph. Manual page 186 gives the set up instructions, accessed through the camera "shooting menu". Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply, Cliff. It sounds like the same setup I use with the D200. I have been considering upgrading to the D300, but was having second thoughts if there was no multiple exposure capability.

Ed,

Very happy with my D300 although I bypassed th 200 when I upgraded from a D70s. The general internet "chatter" seems to be that Nikon will introduce a (D400) replacement for the 300 at some point in time at which time the 300 prices might drop - all speculation of course.

Hi Ed,

Both the D200 and the D300 are good cameras with the right glass. What makes the D300 stand out for me is the reduction in noise over the D200. I can now shoot 400 ISO regularly, if not default, which is a huge advantage with wildlife (or anything that moves)!

Hi Ed,

I shot with the D2Xs which was great at low ISO (i.e. 100) for landscape and macro work. However it didn't suit my style for long lens work and becomes noisy at high ISO's (well anything above 200).

So I purchased a D300 for long lens work. I found that at ISO 400 it's awesome and never drop it but have shot at higher ISO's with usable images. However after 800 signs of noise do start to creep in. The D lighting is great and often have mine set at low in real contrasty conditions.

I have mine fitted with the battery grip and a EN-EL4a battery for increased frame burst! Very nice! Makes hand holding it a dream.

For your question on multi exposures - yes!

If you are more into landscapes then take a serious look at the D700 - very nice!

Happy shooting,

Paul

I recently picked up a D300 with grip to shoot alongside my D3. It's a great camera although as others have said the high ISO isn't perfect after 800. Personally I would say 800 is close to 3200 on the D3 although I've not done any side by side tests to confirm that yet.

Great camera though, just make sure you get the latest firmware...although any camera purchased now should have it as standard.
