I notice that only four images (links to images found elsewhere not included) have been posted here this past week. I don't know about you, but spring can't get here fast enough for me.
(On that subject, The Powers That Be up in Skagit estimate the daffodil fields will be in bloom "within ten days.")
I drove around yesterday with my camera and I tell you. It was gray, lots of tree and shrub damage from the foot and a half of snow we had this winter and nothing much blooming, Can't wait for April to get here.
I took a walk up to Ponytail falls yesterday. Just for the walk actually, I had my camera but nothing looked too interesting.

This is the time of year when I wished I lived in Kaleeforneea (to quote their governor) instead -- at least you have wildflower season starting in Anza-Borrego in February, and Death Valley through the winter!

Well we do have the coast to shoot if you catch it when storms are rolling in / out.
The grey / brown coincides nicely with ski season for me!
This time of year is pretty slow here on the coast. But like Bryan said, if you catch the storms breaking, its tough place to beat. I expect it to start picking up around here pretty soon though. I'm betting this will be the "Year of Punchbowl Falls"....
Good time for creativity. Abstracts, fogs, shades of gray, textures and shapes. Mike Riches has good creative classes at PCC, good time to do something different than flowers, sunrises and grand vistas... :)

Hopefully, the ground at Punchbowl Falls won't be shaking so much from all the nonstop foot traffic that another tree falls in!

Yeah it seems like the weather has been teasing us here in portland. Beautiful weather on thursday and friday and then it rained saturday and sunday. There was actually a nice break in the rain around sunset on sunday but I wasn't anywhere reasonable to photograph it because I assumed it was raining and stayed home to do some work around the house.
I definitely can't wait for the spring and the rain starts to let up, the wildflowers start blooming and there are still clouds in the sky for great sunset images. I agree about it being the "year of punchbowl falls", everyone is going to want to make their way up there before another log falls in and ruins the composition. I've been tentatively planning a trip to hike up the creek into it this spring with a couple friends of mine.
I'm also looking forward to the summer because I'm planning a back-packing trip in the Mt. Hood area, I was thinking possibly timberline trail. I'm crossing my fingers to get some nice sunrises and sunsets while I'm up there and hopefully not just boring cloudless skies.
