All, those of you who hang around here will likely remember a group of images I posted of rock face "abstracts" from a trip to the Smokies last year. If you were counting, you noted I posted numbers 1, 3 and 4....well, 2 was a comp I liked but the original 4x5 tranny had some significant light leak issues that my mediocre Photoshop skills could not correct. Enter the very generous Joel Truckenbrod, who took a look and kindly agreed to get the image to a point where I could begin working it up - and did a beautiful job. THANKS JOEL! Because of his much greater skill at getting the scan to a good starting point, I have now been able to add number 2 to the list. I don't know if you can go back and see the other images, but I originally conceived them as a series all hanging together.
It has taken me a very long time since Joel worked on this originally to get this done - I have had other projects I had to complete and I've had a hard time getting the colors right on this one (and yes, these colors are pretty close). However, if I have any remaining color casts or some such please let me know - I've been working on it so long I'm not sure I'm seeing it correctly now.
And yes, given an original 300+ MB scan from a 4x5 original, compression is a killer.....

EDIT: I went back and found the other posts - they are on pages 7 and 8 of the MW pages.....if you really care!
Finally got around to processing this file, eh? Looks very good - certainly much warmer than the film capture, though that's not unexpected considering the blue cast film often exhibits without filtration in such conditions. Cool stuff, it's definitely up there in terms of being my "favorite" of the series (although the other's aren't to shabby either, thus it's hard to choose)...glad I could lend a hand CJ.
Kendall - thanks...still trying to get them all worked up and printed together so I can even see the series - that will be fun!
Joel - I STARTED processing it very soon after you sent the file back, but this one has given me fits. Yeah, definitely warmer - between the light and the light leak (ugh), the original was not really showing the colors well. Still not sure all the colors are quite right, but it's pretty darn close.....

CJ....Glad you were able to complete the series! I've enjoyed every one of the images...the details and colors are excellent and would make a wonderful set on a wall.
