They're out..!
Just what I've been waiting for all winter.. The return of the reptiles..

Found 3 Adder last weekend but no opportunity to photograph in any detail. The light was really bright today and so had to under expose somewhat.. Was playing around with different DOF so that I know what may be possible on more 'optimal' days for photographing them. This one being particularly shallow.

Anyway, this is the first time this one has shown itself this year and will shed its skin in a couple of weeks which is when I hope to go back and get them in better condition. I had a total of 3 Adder, 4 Grass snakes, 3 Lizards and a slow worm today..! Awesome..

Hope you all had a good weekend.

Kind regards,

Brett

Great comp here Brett, loads of editorial potential, front covers etc. I think the shallow DoF has avoided a distracting foreground with the grass.

I like it, I like the OOF bit at the front, great shot, spent some time looking for some today but didn't get lucky.

This is great. Well done and congrats.

A lot of adders over here but still no time to go after them. Hopefully this year. Great animals.

Hi Brett,
I really like the shot. Great comp and BG. Hope to see more of them myself this year. Last year I saw my first (and only) one.

Very nice Brett - hopefully bag (perhaps not the best choice of wordage  ) one of these this year myself.

Nice comp and detail - great eye and super BG.

For next time perhaps a tad more FG mush and a LS format might be nice too

lovely image, like the way you get a sense of the coils from the shallow depth of field

Certainly a target for me in the coming weeks , great comp and image, a tongue flick would have put some icing on.
