We do have a few prairie chickens in MO. Here is a sample.

No doubt escapees from Kansas! Great shot.

Boy, when I get my chance to see some prairie chickens in a couple of weeks, I sure hope I don't have to get down this low for a shot! I may never get up!

This is a definite birds eye view Larry and the shallow dof isolated your subject nicely. What was your approximate shooting distance?

Thanks Daniel.

Wayne, I am not a very good judge of distance. This was probably a bit more than 50% crop. I was probably about 175 feet away. Full frame with 600mm and 1.7 TC. Hope this helps. The birds were on top of a small rise so we were about eye/camera level with them.

Nice! That shallow DOF has a great effect.

Thanks Aaron and Gale. Some sunlight would have helped. Maybe next time.
