Looks like things are starting to come to life down along the 15 corridor between Corona and Lake Elsinore with the annual California Poppy growth. I would have to say from what I saw this morning things looked pretty good, in fact a dramatic change in just the last few days as I was down in that area on Saturday. It truly does not appear to be a bumper crop of any sort, but there were still many healthy looking clusters.
You're welcome, Floris.
I hope some folks can make use of the information and get by there in the near future.

A good 4x5 friend of mine made a cell phone call last night from a remote spot in that area that was the same place I spent 3 nights on the sly camping during last year's epic bloom. I hadn't told him where to go but rather to buy a current road map of the area and explore every dirt road on the periphery of the vacant zones. Sort of our usual mindset haha. From his description, this year in comparison is pathetic though he noted there was enough at one spot off Lake Street that he supposedly worked that today. He was in AB a few days and suspect he's on his way back north now to check out the Merced Canyon. The best stuff I shot that was utterly mind boggling will never be seen again in the near future because it was an area that had burned the previous year and was especially ripe due to the ashy nutrients. Each year even with significant rains, the flowers there will likely lessen.

I've been to the Merced River Canyon 3 times in the last 10 days. It's the best that I've ever
seen it. It was still at peak on Saturday. The Baby-Blue Eyes across the river are also
prolific affording some good macro opportunities. Tomorrow I'm planning on going to
Southern CA to follow up on the good reports around Arvin on HWY 223 reported on
Carol Leigh's wildfire hotline. I have gotten a favorable report for Little Maria Valley
somewhere on or near HWY 58. My source said approack the Carrizo Plain from
McKitrick. I may try that too.

One our lens clan going over the barbed wire along SR223 just reported being caught and spanked by the Tejon Ranch security patrol. This has been going on for years and has been an active topic for we old timers. In the past Tejon has been rather intolerant of photographers and dislikes having to drive from their center up on the Grapevine down there to roust lens toters and usual romping in the flowers family passerbys without a clue. The whole Tejon fence is legally posted at the required intervals {every 1/3 mile) For those that be ignorant:
