They are still in the Skagit Valley on Fir Island near Conway. Flock (actually the gaggle) was huge. Probably 5000+
In the shot they were at least a mile away settling down behind the tree line, after flying directly overhead from the west side of Fir Island. What a racket!
Unfortunately when shooting moving Snow Geese, I have to use less than optimal settings with handheld zoom. So this pic is not as sharp as I would like.
Nikon D40x
1/400s f/5.6 at 145.0mm iso400
70-300mm VR
Check out location map if interested. You can seen geese on almost every visit along Fir Island Road.
PS: Daffs are not in bloom yet in Skagit Valley. I suspect 2 more weeks. And as cold as it has been up here, Tulips will probably be late - mid to late April.
I really like your composition. It's really hard to do these enormous flock of birds justice with a camera. The sound is usually as impressive as the sight too. I just had my own encounter w/ this species and won't soon forget it.

what the flock...
That's a lot of snow goosies. Nice comp and color.

It has kind of a "National Geographic" feel to it. Nice one!
