Another week, another batch of great images in the Fauna Gallery. This week it almost seemed like the "dog and cat show" in the fauna gallery, as many of the most memorable images seemed to be of members of the dog and cat families.
Tamara Gooch's "Hayden Fox" deserves an honorable mention but was only one of the many good canid shots. Julian Cox gave us a look at a near-perfect feline predator in his appropriately titled "Predator Perfection". And Lon Sharp's wary coyote image entitled "Eye Contact" drew lots of eyeballs and well-deserved rave reviews.
I ultimately chose Ajit Huilgol's "Spotted Hyena with Kill" as the Pick of the Week - not only was it technically strong, but it captured a real glimpse of drama in real life. Congratulations to Ajit and all others who posted images in the fauna gallery this past week.
Cheers...

Technical note for the taxonomists in the crowd: The Spotted Hyena is a member of the family Hyaenidae and thus technically not a canid (or "dog"). However, few would argue that they possess a dog-like body plan and have developed a way of life similar to many members of the true dog family.
