Great. Nice sharp image with loads of detail. I bet any crop works. Dead branch a bit overpowering?

Never keen on square crops myself and the perch isn't overly flattering Lewis but its a well exposed image and really nice pose.
Great detail, nice light and a male to boot

Really nice looking shot Lewis. The crop works ok but I think I'd be tempted to crop to portrait with most off the left, and perhaps if the resolution allows it maybe a bit more off the bottom to lose the little triangle of background you'd be left with and reduce the apparent size of the perch in the image?

Excellent! The crop works well. The colours are gorgeous and so much detail!
I agree the perch is a little overpowering, perhaps you could darken it down slightly, or following Magnus' suggestion.
Lovely image with great detail and rich colours. I don't mind square or any format that suits the picture. In this case I think a little more on the right would be good, and I agree about a little crop from the bottom.

Thanks for the comments/advice
I tried pretty much every crop before posting, when cropping to portrait the virtual tail is lost and the bird looks a little cramped in the frame for my taste. I agree about the perch, not the best in the world, I'll have a look for a more suitable one and try again.
The perch is, for me, a tad overpowering but perhaps the image overall seems a little bright to me? Otherwise I certainly wouldn't complain with an image like that !

Very nice Lewis. I like the detail and the square crop is OK for me. I first of all thought that cropping to a portrait format might work, but having looked again I agree about the virtual tail. I wonder if it might help just to tone down the highlight along the top of the perch a tad?

Nits already covered but the detail and the pose from the bird are great. I'm sure you will lots of opportunity for more and I look forward to seeing them.
