Garmin GPSmap 60CSx - Wanted

After exhaustive research, I've decided that the 60CSx will suit my needs better than either of Garmin's newer offerings - the Colorado and Oregon series.

Before I trot over to my local REI, I thought I'd see if anyone here has a used 60CSx that he/she would like to sell. Let me know.

Thanks,

CAZ

That is a really nice GPS unit. I've used it a bit and think it has alot of benefits over the Oregon and Colorado models too.

You would have to pry mine from my cold, dead hands.

When my Vista Cx fell off my motorcycle and got run over by a truck last summer, I did quite a bit of research on the 60CSx vs. the newer Oregon and Colorado models, and came to the same decision you did. I'm very, very happy with the 60CSx.

You should check eBay. I got a good deal on mine - almost new.

I just bought one and I love it. I bought mine from Amazon and it's a bit cheaper there than at REI.

Thanks for the input guys. You've all validated my research. However, when I got to REI the GPS guy talked me into the DeLorme PN-40 (in part by reminding me about their generous return policy).

The PN-40 has a dual-core processor, 500MB built in memory and will take SD cards for many more gigs of info. The one thing that really sold me was the mapping. You don't have to buy all those separate 24k topo maps - a $30/year subscription gets you all the topos you want! That, plus the full-color aerial imagery (high-res in the city) really helped with the convincing.

I'll be putting it to the test next week so at least I'll know during the return period whether or not switching from Garmin to DeLorme was worth it.

Thanks for the input,

CAZ

I think you made a good choice, CAZ. I like my Garmin device, but the maps are disappointing. Especially when route-planning on the PC. I MUCH prefer the Delorme maps. Hard to understand how Garmin has gone so long with sub-par maps. The UI on the PC for delorme is less-than-intuitive at first, but the steeper learning curve is worth it, imo.

Actually, the perfect unit would be a device with the screen size of the Garmin, the map quality of Delorme, and an intuitive mapping program on the PC.
